For Thick Plates or where there is a requirement for a complex or multi-sided bevel, then the best method is gas beveling with an automatically rotating triple burner. This system uses three gas torches and by fully programmable adjustment to the relative positions of the three oxy torches, this system provides the capability to produce the full range of plate edge preparations such as upper and lower bevels, K preps, X preps etc.

In our Farley design, the leading, centre and lagging torches are laterally offset so that the three cutting flames do not impinge on the plate surface at one point. The centre torch may be adjusted vertically, while the side torches are adjustable in angle translation, vertically, forwards and backwards, and left and right.

Each torch is fitted with trimming valves for fuel gas, pre-heat and cutting oxygen, along with an air cooling device to ensure an even operation and adjustment under high heat loads.

The cutting torch assembly is mounted on the end of a large rotary post, driven by an independent micro-processor and servo-drive, ensuring that the rotary head is always normal to the cut contour.
